Barney’s Hide and Seek is a game that was released in 1993 by Sega for the Mega Drive/Genesis video game system. It was based on the children’s television and home video franchise known as the “Barney” franchise. The voice of Barney was recorded by Bob West, who also did it on the television show. There are more than more than one hundred words and two hundred phrases spoken by Barney the Dinosaur. Favorite things are always mentioned by name by Barney when the player helps him discover them. Educational concepts taught in this game include counting, matching, and problem solving. There is a self-play feature that guides the player to the objective when he or she isn’t playing. In this game, the objective is to move Barney around four themed levels and locate five children and five presents that are hiding throughout the level. Unlike action games, the player is not allowed to die (a lack of a proper health bar also indicates Barney’s inability to die). Should the player find all the children and presents in different levels, they would be rewarded with a “special surprise”. During the surprise, the purple balloons are popped while confetti and streamers are drizzled in the presence of excited children in addition to Barney and Baby Bop. Barney’s Hide and Seek has a certain medieval/fantasy look because modern technology does not appear in this game. When nowhere near an object to interact with, Barney can blow kisses in the air complete with flying heart symbols …

A Roleplay.Monica (7:23:48 PM): -She started to feel hersel getting dragged by the squirrels. She was dragged towards the forest on her back, upon her belly was a squirrel with a little army hat on. it glared at her with a grin, scaring the hell out of Moni. She screamed bloody murder before she could see the squirrel no longer cause the darkness. Soon there was dim light..she turned her head to see where it came from. they were in..a den? a large creature soon hunched over infront of them..but..what was it?-Rie (7:25:23 PM): -If Rie een unconcious she could have noticed that the spider carrying her was wearing a general’s hat, like the kind they wore in an american army. where the hell it had gotten such a thing, we may never know. but it sported it as well as its ugly mug could.-Sel (7:27:35 PM): *Unfortunatly he was still concious, and now instead of being rammed itno the wall and into each other, he was drug afte rthe general spider, with one bovine leading them all with a old medieval helmet on.*Monica (7:30:48 PM): -As soon as the cows and spiders had arrived in the den. there was crunching noises, Moni’s eyes widdened. “…are those bones..??” there were things scattered all around the den, the light wasn’t good enough to make out what they were. The crunching sounded like bones..but she coud be wrong. Suddenly the lights all came on, and there infront of them was a giant..bunny. it was bright pink and had vampiric fangs that were dug into a carrot. thats what was surrounding them on the floor..CARROTS! The rabbit wore a hat just like the smaller Minions. it released the carrot and cackled. full heartedly cackled, its hind foot lifting and thumping against the earth. its bright red eyes staring at the prisonersRie (7:34:04 PM): -By this time she had come around. her eyes locking on their captor to avoid looking at the Spiders. behind the huge pink thing another creature cackled madly. Poking his floppy earred head from around the huge rabbits hind foot. Rie pointed and gasped, “GENERAL WOUNDWORT!” General Woundwort the evil rabbit from the book WaterShip down. “He’s real?” she asked looking back and forth between the other to. “This is screwy…”-Sel (7:35:25 PM): * he blinked abit and looked to Rie “Uh…..I’m very confused, what’s …going on..? Hey giant spider.” he waved to the spider but he got a jaw snapping in face treatment, the bovines were…grazing, so the horde of verminious squirriels raced from Moo to him in almost an instant.*Monica (7:37:04 PM): -She blinked, an eyebrow lifting at the other bunny. “Holy crap..he’s real? OKAY! someone had a crazy wish..and I DIDN’T WISH THESE ONES UP!” She cried out, blinking as the squirrels left her. The giant carrot the bunny had dropped was rolling towards her now. “AHHHHH!! KILLER CARROTS!” She screamed, the thing was too big to jump over. so she ran.-Rie (7:39:37 PM): -Rie blinked dumbfoundedly, ut just then, like the part in Lord of the Rings: The two Towers, where Gandolf finally arrives, Hazel and his rabbits appeared on the shadowy Horizon. Running toward the huge Pink rabbit and General Woundwort. Squealing their little war-cries. Rie turned and ran with Moni, “I wanna go hooooooommmeee.” she moaned.Sel (7:41:50 PM): -He blinked a bit, he knew nothing about what was going on except for something weird was going to happen and he snuggled closer to rie “I’m scared…” Big bad vampy scared..well of course! wouldn’t you pee you pants if you were met with such a mix in of odd characters? especially bunniculaMonica (7:43:11 PM): -Suddenly a small faery buzzed past Sel. The bunnies started chanting, “I DO believe in Faeries..I DO..I DO!” Moni screamed and continued running only to find her path blocked by cattle. She turned and ran into a horde of faeries, the bunnies still chanting away.-Rie (7:46:23 PM): -Bunnies were still pooring from the Horizon but they suddenly stopped as with a Roar Simba and the pridelanders leaped over the edge of the hill and changed downward. though it was happeniung there was a suddne clamour and all the animals reared up. Battle armor going on, swords and other medieval weaponry clutched. there were shouts of EULALIA in the brush as the animals began battling around their feet. Lion’s battling cattle. it was a grand old horror.-Monica (7:49:42 PM): -And then came the ringing voices of, “THUMBELLINNAAAAAAA!!!” Bees buzzed around the faeries, more faeries ontop of the bees as they all sung the ‘thumbelina’ song. then came cats singing, “a cats the only cat..who knows..where its atttt…oohhh..YEEEAAAHHHH!” an orange kitten pounced a squirrel. a tabby hopped around the floor, hissing and puffing out going, “MEROW!! FFFTTT FFTTTT!”Rie (7:51:11 PM): -And thus a war chant was heard to flow from beyound sight, “Tikky tikky tikky, Kush Kush!” repeated over and over in a wild mantra as Ham Hams spilled from bneath the bushes and fell upon the hapless squirrels and warring rodents.-Sel (7:52:34 PM): * he blinked in utter confusion as sememingly following there mousey berthrern badgrs came in, horrible striped thigns, but absolutely fearful in their cvute little armo and..sharp ..angry looking swords, he winced as they fell upon attacking a cow.*Monica (7:54:08 PM): -”Get ‘em big momma! Get ‘em!” a finch chirped as he zoomed in. “Hey Boomer! where’d he go!? Where’d he go!?” a catapillar rode upon a buzzing bee, a woodpecker flying after it. a big owl rushed in, “I am TOO old for this!” Suddenly a two fox and 6 kits rushed in snarled and such. a hound let out a booming howl before charging into battle.-Rie (7:55:28 PM): -Th long patrol followed their badger lords and ladys braveley into battle. Singing their famed war cry of perilous hares, “EULALIA S’blood on the wind EULALIA Give’em blood ‘n’ vinegar EULALIAAAAAAAA”Sek (7:56:14 PM): -He blinked as suddenly..a cery for honied blood was heard as a blood thirsty Winnie th poo and gang ran in with improvised swords donkey kicking and lashing out.-Monica (7:57:43 PM): -Suddenly deer all rushed in. one slid into a horde of chanting bunnies, its lips curled back into a snarl at the bunnies. it started prancing around, trampling over the bunnies before falling over and getting covered by faeries.-Rie (7:59:10 PM): -Rie stood there and stared. She didn’t know what the bloody fuck was going on. Hooves, more hooves, charging and throwing themselves past the poor souls. Thundering into battle. Wild mustangs from the american plains!.Sel (8:00:00 PM): -He blinked and snuggled next to rie, blood coverd him, and he blinked Eeeew…and suddenly, the oddest thing happened, a lone animal, strapped head to toe in holy hand grenades, shouting monty python slogans.-Monica (8:00:42 PM): -Moni slid over to the two, staring. Suddenly a huge red dog boomed into view, a girl on its back shouting, “I LOVE CLIFFORD! THE BIG RED DOG!”-Rie (8:02:43 PM): -Rie’s jaw dropped, but it wasn’t over yet. Sounds came from the bush a loud ‘Hehyuck!” followed by thumping footsteps. Purple and green blurred it all out, currounded by an enmasse of red, blue, yellow, and purple carrying a large pink purse. The aforementioned boomed out, “Can’t we all just be friends!” before beginning to sings a lurid song, “I LOVE YOU…YOU LOVE ME!!” so on and so forth.-Sel (8:04:40 PM): -The holy hand grenade animal growled and tackled barny pulling all his puins and killing banrey and hi companions, but the flow wouldn’t end! tiny ants siging the Antz themsong strode in.-Monica (8:05:32 PM): -A bunch of city dogs bursted into the scene. “WHY SHOULD I WORRY!? I SHOULD I CAARRREEE..WHY SHOULD I WORRY? I GOT STREET SAFAFRAR..!” they all sang, doing a little jig as they jumped onto the cows, their booties shaking.-Rie (8:07:37 PM): -Rie held her wand aloft shouting out an incantion. a giant silver muffin appeared beside her wearing a black saddle. Rie leapt onto the muffin and gripped the reigns, “HI HO SILVER MUFFIN!” she howled. Sending spells into the mass of animals.-Sel (8:08:59 PM): -He blinked this was insane..and now his girlfriend was riding a muffin of course, one last bunch squeezed in, a furry red fox, a larger than life ebar, a cuckoolding minstrel chicken, who were they? Robin hood and his marry men!-Monica (8:10:00 PM): -Suddenly all the Telletubies bounced into view singing. “TELLITUBIES! Telletubies! say..helllo! Tinky winky..dipsey..lala..po!”-Rie (8:11:27 PM): -A rucuss lifted in the background. Loud yells could be heard as Naraku came bursting through the brush followed by Inu-Yasha and the gang. Shortly behind them came Sephiroth, slicing through things with the masamune like the psycho he was. Rie wanted to stop and drool over him and Cloud who followed him shortly, but she decieded to continue causing havoc and riding her giant muffin instead.Sel (8:14:01 PM): -He blinked, Along came Squall, Rinoa, and the gang from FF8 following as always in the crew from FF7′s footsteps, although behind them Pac-man came with munch-munch behind him, oh god…he shrugged of fighting bunny and rat off him, hoping onto the muffin with rie, he really didn’t want to die down thereMonica (8:15:11 PM): -There a loud bang of a gun. Dun dun dun..there..stood..VASH! he suddenly saw the mass of weird looking creatures and screamed as a hampster jumped on him. “AHHHHH” he began running around with little dots as his eyes, arms flailing before he fell over into a mass of tattered red clothing.-Rie (8:19:05 PM): -With a sudden woosh of sound effects her wand was replaced in its usual keeping and in her hand was all…LIGHT SABER! “I AM THE MUFFIN-JEDI!” she yelled, “I SHALL RULE THIS WORLD!”-Sel (8:20:36 PM): -He blinked from atop th Muffiny-destrier, and looked to rie, and suddenly…yells of “RAT FLAIL!” Could be heard as a greyish cat picked up a rat and tieed it to a stick, flailing it, the other pink one was aeris, dressed all coolninja like witha sword, but she looked to leo “….SHUT UP AND DIE!” o.oMonica (8:23:38 PM): -Suddenly Sora, Donald, and Goofy charged in. “GET THE HEARTLESS!” Sora shouted. Moni jumped to her feet and snatched the Keyblade, “THE POWER IS MINEEEEEE!!!” She roared, Simple and clean suddenly blasting all around the den. “Blizzard!” She shouted a blast of winter hitting hamsters, squirrels, and faeries. She then ran away from Sora, Donald, and goofy as they chased her. Suddenly Rikku appeared in all his glory, she rushed over and tackled him. “EEEEEE!”-Rie (8:24:58 PM): -Despite the fact that Sel was there Rie started chasing Sephiroth yelling, “I’M GONNA RAPE YOOUUUUUUU!”-Sel (8:25:57 PM): -He blinked at all the weird..ownage going all around him…and then…the rumbling came, all over, as Bowser stumbled in with many koopas.-Hika (8:28:01 PM): Blinking several times, he watches as random talking penguins goes past him, and watches all the other chaotic things going around him with a dumbfounded look on his face?Monica (8:29:42 PM): -Suddenly a voice shouted. “YOU DAMN RAT!” Kyo Sohma ran into the place, followed by Yuki who was glaring daggers. “Well its not my fault your an arrogant Cat..” Tohru blinked, “Come on guys..dont’ start..” Shigure looked at all the creatures and laughed softly, “well now..it does look like we have ran into a bit of a mess..haven’t we?”-Rie (8:31:20 PM): -And the the barrier of IC and OOC suddenly broke and the REAL Rie toppled into the land of RP and started shrieking as her Hogwarts self almost ran her real self over.- O___OSel (8:32:24 PM): *Stared at the real rie…SHE LOOKS SO 3-D! OMG! oh well, Orcs ran in with waht looked like bags over their heads, and some other thigns…they had blinking names over their head liek Orcish Mesmerizer and Orcish Grunt.*Hika (8:37:53 PM): Blinking several times as sakura trees break through the grounds and started to blow blossoms everywhere, this grand event was then followed by loud shrieking sounds as zombies rise up from the grounds and attack the random people trying to picnic. a man in armor and in white wings was telling, maybe an assistant, “It’s quite common for bones to be buried under sakura trees” The assistant replied, “Yeah…but they don’t go attack the picnickers….only you could plan such an event Balmung.”Monica (8:40:19 PM): -Suddenly Gremlins rushed in..wait! they were running in on..GIANT SPAGHETTI O’S! they were cackling insanely, one with a white mohawk reving a chain saw. “HEHEHEHE!” then the gang from .Hack and .Hack legend of the Twilight rushed in and began bashing away. Hogwarts Moni was bashing people with her Keyblade while REAL Moni was chasing Kyo Sohma, “IMMA GETCHA! IMMA GETCHA!” Dory and Nemo flopped in, Dory bursting out in, “just keep swimming..just keep swimming..just keep swimming swimming, oh how I love to swim. Swim. OH-OH OOHHH..I love to SWWIIIIMMM! when you WAAAANNNT to swim you’ve got to…”-Sel (8:41:12 PM): * he cllosed his eyes as the giant kool-aid man jumped through a wall yelling “HOOYAH!” and then! four jedi and four sith battle there way itno the room, they look to IC rie and yell “MUFFIN-JEDI! HELP US!” Lastly conker strolled in, pissing and gunning down everything in sight. and just when you thoguht it over, tiny Midgets in seer-sucker mob suits jump into the foray- with massive bel-ays.*Rie (8:42:51 PM): The Hogwarts Rie was still riding her muffin with Sel and slashing down things as the Jedi called to her. The real Rie was busily running in circles before being dragged back to her padded cell and stuffed aay carefully. Oompa Loompas come charging in singing their weird songs followed by Willy Wonka.-Sel (8:44:53 PM): -He blinked this was so insane, he leaned and and looked the oompaloompas were starting a humple-wumple orgyworgy tis an Rp from a few days ago. Staring: Rie, Sel, Hika, and I.Special guests include: Winnie the Pooh and his gang, Characters from FF7 and 8, General Woundwort, The Aristocats, The gang from Fox and the Hound, Bowser from Mario and the Koopas, Faeries from Peter Pan, Clifford the Big Red Dog, Barney the Purple Dinosaur, different things from the RedWall series..Gremlins, Finding Nemo characters, …The REAL Moni, Sel, and Rie. <<; Willy Wonka and his peoples. God..okay. you know what? Figure it out yourself, I give up. too many. we broke so many copyright laws. XDD

Previous meetings: Jan. 4 at L’Anse – Purple Hornets 61, Copper Kings 32 – L’Anse picked up steam late in the first quarter to take a 20-9 lead after one, then put the game away by outscoring Calumet 19-5 in the third. Three Hornets scored in double figures, led by Madissen Swanson’s 16. Tanya Lasanen led Calumet with eight.

Feb. 3 at Calumet – Purple Hornets 69, Copper Kings 35 – L’Anse rolled to a 22-5 lead after a quarter and built from there by forcing 25 turnovers. Valerie Rajala’s 18 points led L’Anse, with three scorers in double figures. Tanya Lasanen scored 11 for Calumet.

Three random facts: 1. L’Anse has four players averaging at least eight points but none with more than 9.9.

2. Only two teams in the last three years have had a winning record without at least one double-digit scorer: Calumet and Baraga in 2008-09.

3. Calumet’s four wins came against Jeffers and Lake Linden-Hubbell.

Previous meetings: Dec. 7 at Baraga – Lady Vikings 40, Bays 37 – Two big surges, a 12-0 bridging halftime and a 4-0 at the end, helped Baraga get the close home win. Brittany Nieskes hit what would be the game-winning three and had a team-high eight points. Mariah Marcol had 16 to lead Dollar Bay.

Jan. 24 at Dollar Bay – Bays 55, Lady Vikings 45 – the Bays had a potent inside-outside punch, as Marcol had 17 points and 14 boards, while Danielle Benson added 16 points. Andrea Heikkinen had a pair of late threes (plus a team-high 15 points) to get the game within three points with three minutes to go before the Bays held on.

Three random facts: 1. Dollar Bay was 7-3 at home this year with four straight wins.

2. Baraga did not lose to a team with a losing record this season.

3. Dollar Bay eliminated Baraga 48-41 in a district first-round game at Hancock last season.

Previous meetings: Jan. 3 at Watersmeet – Nimrods 48, Panthers 21 – the Nimrods overcame early shooting woes, pulling ahead 24-12 at the half, then sealing the game with a 19-2 third quarter. Burke led Watersmeet with 16 points, while Sam Robl had seven to lead E-TC.

Feb. 10 at Ewen – Nimrods 45, Panthers 31 – Watersmeet built most of its lead in the first half, going ahead 26-12. Gertie McGeshick had three 3-pointers and a game-high 23 points for Watersmeet, while Taylor Niemi led the Panthers with 13.

Three random facts: 1. Watersmeet is the first U.P. girls’ basketball team to complete the regular season undefeated since Westwood in 2007-08.

2. though E-TC is 2-16 this year compared to 4-16 last year, the Panthers are minus-9.1 points per game this year compared to minus-26.2 last year.

3. the no. 2 team in the U.P. in Class D is also in this district – Forest Park. the Trojans, whom the Nimrods beat 50-35 earlier in the season, and Nimrods could meet in the final.

Sarah is a Dora addict.  Megan is a Boots addict and Katie thinks Swiper is pretty cool.  When TV time comes around, Dora the Explorer is at the top of the list of requests!

SARAH: Yes Mommy.

Me:  Sarah, what did you think of the Dora the Explorer and Friends Magazine you got in the mail?

Sarah:  Mommy, it was so cool!  And I want another one on the computer.  Can you get me another one?  Please Mommy?

Me: Sarah, what was your favorite things about the magazine?

Sarah:  Mommy, I want the one with the stickers.  I liked the stickers.  They were fun and sticky.  And there was Dora, and Boots, and Swiper, and Tico, and Iza, and ‘Abwewa’

Me:  Do you think you would like to have the magazine come in the mail again to you?

Sarah:  Ohhh, mommy, please, please can I have it?  Can I go get it from the mailbox now?

Me:  Oh honey, we’ll have to wait until it is delivered!  Sarah, do you remember anything else about the Dora magazine that you liked?

Sarah:  ’Member mommy, they had a party and there were presents and games and presents and BIRTHDAY CAKE!  Can we have a party mommy? Can Dora come to my party?

Me: maybe on your birthday honey.

And that about sums up her attention span for me.  Though she gave the Dora the Explorer and Friends Magazine at least two full days!

Needless to say, she really loved it!  And we have it on our list of definite birthday presents for the girls this year!
